Earth, My Body Series

Simply humble goods made from high-fired Black Mountain stoneware

Simple. Humble. Restful. Solid. These pots, bowls, vases and jars are made from (mostly) unglazed stoneware or earthen ware. They feel good in the hand, rest the eye, and carry about them the deep dark stillness of the earth.

Some are of local clay that I have dug, processed, and pit fired and are suitable for decorative use only. Others are high fired to cone ten and are food safe. Check individual product descriptions, please.

Here’s a conversation I had with my mom when I was about 8.

“Where are your shoes?”

“Stuck.”

“Stuck where?”

“In the mud. In that ditch down at the end of the lane.”

“You walked home barefoot?”

“Yes. I didn’t want to ruin my socks.”

“Go get your shoes. Now.”
